This project is a residence located in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC.
The project consisted of renovating the historic row house to accommodate the needs of the new owners and their children. The existing cramped kitchen was completely gutted and expanded to make way for the new open plan. Space was taken from the existing hallway to allow space for an island in the kitchen. This allows the couples' small children to sit at the island so the family can interact during meal prep. The existing wood floors were refinished and the tin ceiling was added to maintain the character of the original house and neighborhood.
The new kitchen is open and bright with classic touches that lend themselves to the history of the home.
